AZ-500 Test Preparation

I decided to go ahead and take a Pre-Assessment test yesterday to see what concepts in familiar with and which ones I need more work on.

While I have experience with working in Azure on a daily basis, there were different technologies that I have not touched and had a vague understanding of.

Some of these technologies consisted of:

  • Kubernetes
  • Network Security Groups / Application security groups
    • I have had experience with setting up of network security groups when it comes to securing key vaults, vms, etc, but I feel there is much more to learn.
  • Defender for Cloud / SQL

To check and see what I knew and what I didn’t, Microsoft had an assessment tool for the AZ-500. I went through the process of completing the practice test and made a 42 out of 100 on the exam itself. This was definitely expected after seeing some of the technologies I had not used before.

The below screenshot was the breakdown of the strengths across each of the different sections.

With getting a breakdown of each of the sections, the assessment tool gave me some sections to go through which is pretty beneficial to understand the different areas of which I was weak.

The sections that it recommended me to study are the following list of Microsoft Learn resources:

After getting this comprehensive list, I will come up with a study plan based on my expected time frame to take the exam.
